KFU-KFH Former Employees Held Their Reunionby Rodrigo Mijares, April 11, 2009Former overseas workers and employees of King Faisal University - King Fahd Hospital located in Alkhobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia held their bi-annual reunion at Gold Coast Casino's Nevada Ballroom on April 11, 2009 in Las Vegas. About 60 people are in attendance from all over America. One former employee, Tess Ermino Haines, made it more special and memorable by coming all the way from United Kingdom with her daughters and a family friend. Also, the only American KFU-KFH employee from New York, Ms. Myrna Belgrave-Sigua also graced this memorable event with her sister, Marva. Special mention also to Evelyn and Silvestre Fiesta who came all the way from South Carolina, Archibald and Jewellyn Yburan with their daughters came from the snowy Minnesota and Antonio "Sonny" Go travelled from Washington, DC. The other attendees mostly came from California and Las Vegas. They are Alberto and Mondreza Pascua, Lorna Castillo, Bessie and Rene Inocando, Evelyn and Noli Calingo, Ofelia and Maiza Gillanders, Felisa Palma, Chato Balintag Orrubia, Olivia and Ely Belo, Amelia Manzanilla, Arturo Norona, Jr., Filipina Doria, Helen Pet Enriquez, Shirley Equipado, Yeng Santos, Meden Ramos, Aliw and Abe Anuat, Ver and Myrna Hermoso and Rezy Pascua. There was an air of excitement, happiness and joy as everybody in attendance appreciated each other for finding the time out of their busy lives to travel from afar and attend the reunion and felt the warmth of each other's company. There was a lot of hugs and kisses, laughter and picture takings and, of course, lots of dances after a sumptuous and delicious buffet punctuated by the Filipino delicacy, lechon. There were even games with prizes like Wowowee's Hep-Hep-Hurray and Alkhobar Jeopardy (Guess What or Guess Who) from and about the life in Saudi Arabia. Nora Mirabueno who is a nurse at University Medical Center and whose family owns the Oriental Store and Restaurant at North Tenaya, Northwest Las Vegas played host to the event. The master of ceremony was Claire Bayoda . Both Nora and Claire kept the event lively and fun with continuous music, dance and drinks ensuring that everybody was enjoying themselves. Claire and Nora started the fun with each one of the attendees re-introducing themselves with their hubbies and children that accompany and share this once in a lifetime memories with them. Claire mentioned "that our reunion is so unique because I think we are the only ones that are not school alumni oriented but employee based oriented alumni having worked in the same hospital, sharing both the hardships of working away from our families and sharing whatever little fun there was away from home." Romel and Tess Quijada of Rahwho DJ Service not only provided music and entertainment but were coaching everybody to participate in line dance, cha-cha, modern and ball room dancing. Romel encouraged and led the boys in showing their talent in dancing YMCA to the delight of the crowd and the dancers. However, the ladies kept their money to themselves and not even a dollar to the boys for dancing that great. Maybe the ladies want more, like Chippendales, with a sexier yet tasteful dance routines. Maybe next time if the price is right. Everybody promised to attend the next reunion in two years and be with friends again. The night finished with a plan that the next reunion in 2011 will be held on a 3-day cruise to California-Mexico. Evelyn Calingo and Sonia Padilla from California were given the task of coordinating the next reunion. Everybody will be duly informed of the details of the next reunion either by e-mail, phone or mail. What a night to remember and friends to treasure for a lifetime. | Click here to see PORCH basketball tournament results in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia PORCH (Pinoy Overseas at Royal Commission Hospital) Check these Photo Albums by Rod Mijares:
